Child Development
Examination Board OCR Cambridge Technicals
Intent
The Cambridge National exam board has been chosen as it provides a strong practical and theoretical basis for students to build on. Students will begin with R057 which focuses on the health and well being of the child. We start with this unit as it underpins both RO58 & RO59 and provides students with key knowledge to build on. Furthermore, by completing the exam unit first it gives opportunities for students to re-sit if needed.
Summary of the Course
Child Development covers aspects such as early stages development, parental responsibility and decision making. Students develop the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to create the best conditions for a child’s development and well-being. The course combines exam and coursework based units which developed a number of key transferrable skills such as time management, research and resilience. This course offers an engaging curriculum and is an excellent precursor to Health and Social Care at Level 5.
